Academy & Tools

Free guides and tools for people who carry, or who just finished a permit class: 7 pistol drills with round counts, a safe dry fire routine, plain answers about the CCW class and a free printable target. The drills and round counts come from the NES LEVEL 1 plans. The CCW class guide links each permit fact to its official or primary source, with the date we checked it.

NES Defense sells a 4-month training program. This page is free and does not require it.

What should you practice at the range?

The fundamentals, on a plan, with a number on every string. Every NES LEVEL 1 range session opens with a dry stage of 5 to 15 reps per drill, then runs 100 to 200 rounds from at least 6 meters (7 yards), with 10 to 20 rounds held in reserve for re-shoots.

  • Pistol drills

Drills from the LEVEL 1 plans, each with its target, its distance and the round count for every string.

  • The free NES Alpha target

One target with a single measurable hit zone, for balancing pace, control and accuracy. Free as an A4 PDF for your name and email.

What can you practice at home?

Dry fire: grip, sight picture and trigger press, with no live ammunition. It is only safe with the full protocol, every time:

  1. Unload the pistol and check it twice, chamber and magazine well both empty.
  2. Put all ammunition in another room, loaded magazines included.
  3. Point only in a safe direction, at a backstop that would stop a round.
  4. No live ammunition at any point in the session.
  5. Reload only after the session ends, and say out loud that dry practice is over before you do.
  • Dry fire training

A home routine adapted from the dry stage that opens NES technical sessions at the range, with the holster work left out, the reps for each drill and the safety protocol above built in.

  • Is dry firing bad for your gun?

It depends on the gun. What to check on yours, when snap caps make sense, and why your owner’s manual has the final word.

What comes after a CCW class?

Regular practice: a permit class is a starting point, and practice is what keeps the skill. What helps most after the class is a plan for the range.

  • What a CCW class covers

What the permit class teaches and what it leaves out. Each permit fact links to its official or primary source, with the date we checked it.

That plan is what we sell: the NES concealed carry training program is 4 months of structured range sessions, LEVEL 1 to LEVEL 4, built with operators from Israeli special forces units who have fought in active combat. It is not a permit or CCW class, and no instructor is at your lane. The printable plans and targets are in English; the session videos are in Hebrew for now.

Who writes these guides, and how are they checked?

The NES Defense Training Team. Drills, reps and round counts come only from the NES LEVEL 1 plans; program details match our program pages. Facts about permits, laws or a specific gun link to the official or primary source, with the date we checked it, and the page is updated when a fact changes.
